The Port Macquarie-Hastings LGA comprises urban and rural communities across 3687 square kilometres on the NSW Mid-North Coast.
Its principal towns are Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton, along with smaller towns, villages and rural communities.
The district’s 72,696 people includes the largest aged population in NSW and had the state’s highest percentage increase in all age groups over 50 in last five years.
It is estimated that 1771 people are living with dementia in the Port Macquarie state electorate in 2016 – the third highest percentage in NSW behind the Tweed and Myall Lakes areas*.
